Under beautiful skies and a temperature of 25 degrees, Race 2 of the Italian F4 Championship powered by Abarth featured countless battles until the last lap, when the Chinese driver Ye Yifei passed his team mate (Kfzteile24 Mücke Motorsport) Mauricio Baiz for second place.

Adria 07/05/2016 – Race 2 featured Group A verses Group B, with Raul Guzman (DR Formula) in pole position. At the start however his clutch release (by his own later admission), was too aggressive, resulting in excessive wheelspin off the line. It was no problem for Mauricio Baiz however who passed him off the start. The positions changed on the 9th lap, when Baiz, who by now was in trouble with excessive tyre wear, began to lose speed. Guzman not only passed him but went on to win untroubled.

The battle was not yet over with the charge coming from Chinese driver Ye Yifei (who recorded the fastest lap of 1'15"322), who passed Joao Vieira on the 16th lap, Vieria going on to finish 4th.

Yifei catching right up to the rear wing of the Venezuelan Mauricio Baiz (who afterwards declared he had problems with changing gears in the last few corners). The decisive move for second coming on the final lap.

Fifth place for the Brazilian Giuliano Raucci (Diegi Motorsport), who gained 3 positions from the start, closing up on Ian Rodriguez (DRZ Benelli) who would finish 6th and have the satisfaction of winning the Rookie Trophy.

Seventh place for Kush Maini (BVM Racing), ahead of the first Italian Giacomo Altoè (Bhaitech), who survived a great dice with Yan Shlom (11th at the chequered flag).

In 9th position Diego Ciantini (Jenzer Motorsport) and behind him rounding out the top ten the Dutch driver Leonard Hogenboom from Cram Motorsport.

In the Rookie Trophy, behind the winner Ian Rodriguez was Kush Maini,  and Giacomo Altoè.

Drama right up until the final few corners; Lorenzo Colombo (BVM Racing) prevailing over Aldo Festante (Kfzteile24 Mücke Motorsport) 13th and Diego Bertonelli (RB Racing) 14th.

Tomorrow the action recommences at 9:00am with Group A versus Group C, the front row occupied by Raul Guzman and Simone Cunati. At 14:00 the Race Final.
