On a dry track in hot summery conditions, more than 20 drivers (from 31 entrants for the fifth round of the season) were covered by less than a second, a testament to the competitive nature of the championship.
After a weekend that saw among the first drivers at the top at Mugello, the Rookie Juri Vips was in charge at Vallelunga where he recorded the fastest time not only in the first session of qualifying of a 1:34.499, but lowered that mark in the second session to a time of 1:34.278. Starting behind him on the grid in Race 1 will be his Prema Power team mate Mick Schumacher who qualified with a time of 1:34.

Following him was Raul Guzman (DR Formula), Diego Bertonelli (Bhaitech), Juan Manuel Correa (2nd in the Rookie Trophy), Artem Petrov (3rd in the Rookie Trophy), Giuliano Raucci (Diegi Motorsport), Kush Maini (BVM Racing and 4th in the Rookie Trophy), Devlin De Francesco (kfzteile24 Mucke Motorsport) and Simone Cunati (Vincenzo Sospiri Racing and 5th in the Rookie Trophy).
