The second round of the Italian F4 Championship got underway at the Vallelunga “Piero Taruffi” Circuit. On track early in the morning, the fastest driver in the session that opened the day was Ludovico Busso, the Sicilian driver from Giarratana racing for US Racing, the team led by Gerhard Ungar and Ralf Schumacher. Busso stopped the clock at 1:34.943, finishing 0.113 seconds ahead of Romania’s David Cosma-Cristofor (Prema Racing), who ended the session in second place.
Third fastest was Maffi Racing’s Danish driver David Walther, 0.141 off the top, closely followed by championship leader Alp Aksoy. The Turkish Prema Racing driver was just 0.147 behind. Mercedes junior Kenzo Craigie (R-ace GP) completed the top five at 0.175.
Sixth and seventh, both 0.199 seconds adrift, were Germany’s Arjen Kraling (US Racing) and Spain’s Christian Costoya, racing in McLaren papaya colours with Prema Racing as part of the McLaren Driver Development Programme.
Eighth in Free Practice 1 was Oleksandr Savinkov (US Racing), 0.268 behind, followed by Bader Al Sulaiti (Jenzer Motorsport) at 0.323 and Alex Ruta (Van Amersfoort Racing) at 0.

Session 2 produced the fastest lap of the entire morning, thanks to Spain’s Edward Robinson (US Racing), who posted a 1:34.827. Just 0.061 behind was teammate Luka Sammalisto. Third-best lap for Roman Kamyab, the Prema driver making his Italian F4 Championship debut, 0.217 off the pace.
Oscar Repetto set the fourth-fastest time at 0.377, ahead of Jenzer Motorsport driver Elia Weiss, who matched the same gap of 0.377. Sixth was the second Mercedes junior driver at R-ace GP, Andy Consani, at 0.414.
Seventh in Session 2 was Thomas Bearman (Van Amersfoort Racing) at 0.440, followed by Indian driver Ary Bansal (US Racing) at 0.472. Completing the top 10 were Artem Severiukhin (Jenzer Motorsport) at 0.474 and Ferrari Driver Academy member Niccolò Maccagnani (Prema Racing) at 0.489.
Friday’s schedule still includes another free practice session, with Session 1 on track from 12:50 PM to 1:20 PM and Session 2 from 1:30 PM to 2:00 PM.
Qualifying sessions will then take place later in the evening:
Session 1 from 6:10 PM to 6:30 PM
Session 2 from 6:40 PM to 7:00 PM
Based on the results, the three race groups will be determined. The fastest driver overall will be assigned to Group A and will start from pole position in two races, while the quickest driver from the other session will join Group B and start from pole in Race 1.
Race 1 (Groups B and C) will open the competitive programme of the ACI Racing Weekend at Vallelunga on Saturday, May 23 at 11:40 AM. Later that day, at 6:00 PM, the Italian F.4 Championship will close Saturday’s action with Race 2 (Groups A and B).
On Sunday, May 24, the single-seaters promoted by ACI Sport and WSK Promotion will once again open and close the day: Race 3 (Groups A and C) at 9:00 AM, followed by the Final at 3:45 PM, featuring the best 36 drivers from the first three races.
All races will last 25 minutes + 1 lap and will be broadcast live with Italian commentary on ACI Sport TV (Sky channel 228, Tivùsat channel 52 and acisport.tv), as well as streamed on ACI Sport TV’s YouTube and Facebook channels.
English-language live coverage will instead be available on the Italian F4 Championship YouTube and Facebook channels, in addition to the championship’s international broadcasting network.
